Robert’s Maine Grill in Kittery Point serves up locally-sourced Maine cuisine in a modern, welcoming ambiance to locals and travelers alike.
The Need
When Robert’s Maine Grill updated the interior of their popular restaurant with a clean modern feel, they needed the design of their menus to reflect these changes. Having worked for years with [AlphaGraphics’] internal creative design group, West End Creative, they were confident the designer would be able to bridge the gap between their existing logo and color scheme, and the new look and feel they were after.
Solution
Making sure the extensive menu was easy to read and didn’t feel overwhelming was a priority along with Robert’s desire for a more updated look. Therefore, designer Abby Stuart selected the Sans Serif family of fonts for its clean modern feel. The new font styles were carried across the dinner, drinks, takeout, dessert and kids menus, where Abby played with left versus center justification to suit various menu sizes. To add a bit of whimsy and personality to the kids menu, playful colorable graphics were added to the games and the word search was refreshed. The menu sizes remained constant in order to allow Robert’s to use their existing card stock.
The Results
“Our new menu is clean, modern and most importantly, readable,” reports Mary Pugliese, General Manager, Robert’s Maine Grill. “One of the things we love about working with [AlphaGraphics] and West End Creative—in addition to their amazing turnaround times—is the one-on-one relationship we have with the design team. Whenever we need to make a change to our menu, we always get to work with someone who knows us. It means we get exactly what we need each time and fast!”
